MISSION STATEMENT

At Juan Ramirez Middle School our mission is to support the academic, social, and emotional success of military-connected students by providing a welcoming and inclusive school environment that honors their unique experiences. We are committed to fostering strong partnerships with military families, ensuring smooth transitions, and connecting students with the resources they need to thrive. Through dedicated support and understanding, we strive to empower every military-connected student to reach their full potential.

The Military Liaison's major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Help understand the challenges military families face
  • Inform parents about local school policies
  • Give families information about graduation requirements, extracurricular activities, scholarships opportunities, and other school based resources.
  • Conduct workshops to help parents navigate educational transition and advocate for their children
  • Providing an array of resources that benefit military youth and improve school experiences

Pre-K Eligibility Requirements  – Provides general information about Veterans Affairs Benefits.

  •  Military OneSource – Military OneSource offers a wide range of individualized consultations, coaching, and non-medical counseling for many aspects of military life.

  • Laredo Vet Center – Laredo Vet Centers offers confidential help for Veterans, service members, and their families at no cost in a non-medical setting. 

  • Our Military Kids – Our Military Kids offers extracurricular activity grants to children, ages 3-18, of deployed National Guard, deployed Reserve, or post 9/11 combat wounded, ill, or injured Veterans in treatment. 

  • Laredo VA Clinic – The Laredo VA Clinic is an outpatient clinic that offers primary care and specialty health services, including mental health care, foot care, laboratory services, social work, and more.

  • Texas Career Check – Texas Career Check offers a list of different careers available within the Military.

  • Laredo College – Veterans Affairs Coordinator will help Military Veterans and Military Veterans’ dependents navigate the college enrollment process and guide them through veterans' educational benefits.
